This is an informal competition to get the season started – up to 5 images, Colour or Mono, 1400 x 1050 relating to what you did in the summer can be entered....

Tuesday 27th September 2022 - Tracey Lund - Wildlife Photography Part 1

Showcasing a selection of images from Japan, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Camargue, Captive and UK as well as some stories/experiences i encountered along the way.

Working on the coast is also demanding as you need to have the correct equipment with you before you start taking photographs as there is nowhere to put the camera bag.
The other main problem is that the tide advances and retreats incredibly quickly so there is a limited time to capture each shot. I also have to be very aware of the level of the tide so I don’t get cut off from safety on the shore.
However, photographing waves and the sea always produces images with mood so it is well worth getting wet feet and the disappointment of water on the lens. There is always another day!

Tuesday 18th October - Steve Thewis, Pet & Animal Photography
Location: Zoom 7:30pm
In this talk, Steve will talk about the many experiences he had with various animals (From innocent chihuahuas to very deadly and venomous snakes) and how he managed to get the images.
In the second part of his talk he will demonstrate some of his editing techniques inside Photoshop. Get your notepads ready.

Tuesday 1st November - JP Stones Storytelling for Photographers

JP has spent the last 5 years photographing the same group of Mexica, or Aztec, dancers. In that time he learned how connected the Mexica are to their mythology. To stories passed down across generations. That’s when he decided that, as these stories were so vital to Mexica culture, they needed to play a bigger role in his portraits

How did Ashley the amateur snapper become Ashley Franklin Photography offering a wide spectrum of professional services? In Part 1, see how the pursuit quickly became a passion as Ashley made his way through the camera club world and, in Part 2, how he ventured into the commercial sphere. Ashley would not have become a pro without the stimulation and inspiration he picked up as a member of Derby City Photographic, so this presentation is a celebration of the camera club ideal as well as a journey into the world of a professional practitioner with all its perils, pitfalls, triumphs and rewards.

Not Quite Light captures, in the half light of dawn, the transition of Manchester City centre, and the area immediately surrounding it. VISIT THE ‘NOT QUITE LIGHT’ PROJECT On the northern edge of the city centre we can see Victorian glories collide with the unsentimental drive to modernise and reacquaint the city with economic triumph. Salford and Manchester jostle up against each other as they both seek to establish who can best capture the ambition of the Northern Powerhouse.
