‘Let’s Get Creative’ explores a range of newer images, many created during lockdown using toys and making self portraits. The talk shows the transitions from the starting image to the finished work.
Tuesday 16th September - Informal Summer Competition

22nd - 28th September - Club Exhibition at Bebington Library
Our Open Annual exhibition will be held in Bebington Library from 22nd - 28th September. We will aim to have Prints from ALL of our members on Display - and members will be present to talk to any visitors and explain about the Club. Anyone is welcome to visit.

Tuesday 14th October - Zoom Presentation by Roger Hance - 'Making a Silk Purse from a Sow's Ear'

In this talk I show that it is possible to produce strong, competition winning images, even from a raw file that initially, does not show much promise. With careful processing, it can be possible to produce 'A Silk Purse from a Sows Ear', so in this talk I show many of the 'original raw files' as well as the finished image.

This talk looks back on our
photographic journey over the last 10 years and focuses on how we gradually
began to specialise in portraiture and shooting models. The talk will be filled
with hints, tips and suggestions we’ve picked up along the way (for example how
we achieve the soft painterly light that characterises many of our
portraits). The images in this presentation are chosen to show how
the learning curve was always educational, occasionally surprising, and
frequently fun

In this talk I cover my cityscapes and other urban images, and also my creative work mainly involving multiple exposures. As with Scapes 1 talk I share some tips and techniques, as well as anecdotes about the locations and experiences of shooting the scenes. I also mention some of my inspirations, including Sandra Bartocha and Pep Ventosa. As we go along I will discuss some important themes in these genres of photography, such as when to convert to mono and when to go with colour. We will also look at when images benefit from the presence of people. Will also give a Live demo of how I create one of my urban images.
